We think our internet providers are at the fault but not every time. There could be many other reasons by which one can face internet connection problems. There could be downtimes, crashes, APN issues, sim card issues, or even a fault in phone settings that could slow down your internet.

1. Switch Off Mobile Data

If your mobile data is turned on for a long time, you may face internet issues. If so, try switching off your mobile data for about 20-30seconds and restart. It should start working properly now.

2. Restart Your Mobile Phone

Sometimes your phone network crashes and slows your internet speed. In this case, you should switch off your phone and restart it after a minute. It may not work all the time, but you can try this as a quick internet troubleshooting.

If you do not want to literally switch off and on your mobile phone. There’s a quick thing you can do. Turn on your “Airplane Mode” and switch it off after 30 seconds. It works as a reboot only.

3. Check If You Airplane Mode Is On

It is easy to switch on the airplane mode from the notification bar. Sometimes you may switch it on by tapping on it mistakenly. Even after a long flight, you may forget to switch off your airplane mode; resulting in internet connection issues. Next time, when your mobile data stop working instantly. Check on your phone’s airplane mode immediately.

4. Check Your Network Mode

Each mode has its own limitations. If no above option works, you should check which network mode you are using. Your network mode decided your internet speed. There are 3 network modes 2G, 3G and 4G. If you have an advanced phone it may have a 5G network as well. 

Check and change your network according to your internet speed requirement.

  • Go to the “Settings”
  • Under “Mobile Data,” choose “Network Mode” and select the best network as per your needs.
  • Re-Insert Your Sim Card

Even if rebooting the phone doesn’t work, you can try other options as well. Like re-inserting the sim card. Sim card has a direct connection with phone and data connections. So if you are having issues with the internet connection, your sim could be a reason too. 

Insert your sim card properly and restart your phone. Internet should start working fine if the sim was an issue.

Your phone carriers communicate with your mobile devices through Access Point Names (APN). To use the internet on your phone, you need to have the correct APN settings. These settings include your IP address and gateway settings. If nothing works, go to your phone’s Settings > Wireless Connection or Mobile Data > Access Point Names > Restore Default Settings.

6. Change APN Protocol

If your current APN protocol is not working properly, you should change it right away. Although, not all devices have this option if you have such an option so better for you to change it in the APN settings section.

Even many phone models let you keep the field blank. If not, change it to IPv4/IPv6. 

7. Enter Your APN Protocol Manually

Sometimes, software or system updates introduce bugs and issues. Especially in the APN settings. If the automatic settings restoration or changing the APN protocol doesn’t work. You must enter the APN protocol on your own.

9. Perform A Factory Reset

If nothing works, the last option that you have is to reset your factory settings. By performing the factory reset, you should get the solution to internet connection problems. “Factory Data Reset” refresh your phone settings and change them to the default settings. 

Make sure you perform this only as a last option. As it will reset all your settings. Often, you may get a notification of confirmation whether you really want to reset your factory settings. 

If this doesn’t work too, then you must go to the service provider to seek a solution.
